I met Sarah and Kerri for dinner tonight, and then we went to the bridal shop for her first fitting! The dress required NO alterations!! No hemming, no nothing! All the seamstress has to do is put in the hooks so that it can be bustled, and sew in the bra cups. They still charge her $130! I can’t imagine how much it must be for someone who needs major fixing!
Friday night I went out to a huge Ladies Night fundraiser dinner, and silent auction. 19 of us went from work. It’s been like forever since I’ve gone to anything like that. Let’s just say, I’m no prude, but the way many of the women acted there was DISGUSTING!!! (not our group - strangers) Not just the fact that they were grossly drunk, but they were so WEIRD! Dirty dancing with “each other”, kissing each other. Sticking drink tickets out of their zippers, and another woman pulling them out with her teeth, It was NASTY! And could someone explain to me, why woman would dress really “smutty”, to go out with other women?? I thought women mostly did that when they were out prowling?? I guess I’m just old…. now I know why I never go out! Hmmmph
Sarah phoned me an hour ago, excited as hell!! Her dress is in! She was SO relieved!! We have an appointment to go for her first fitting one week from tonight! Yay! That’s the last “big thing” we had to worry about. It’s such a relief. It came in, in 3 months, and they had said it would take 6-8 months! *gulp*
This is Sarah’s dress, except hers is white, and she won’t be wearing that big necklace, or carrying a pet! Check out Flickr to see the back of her gown. It fits her like a glove, except in the hips. They’ll have to take it in a LOT. I told her I’d happily give her a butt transplant, or some reverse liposuction! Heh
The bridesmaids’ dresses arrived yesterday. When I first opened the box, I was absolutely shocked at the color. At school (where they were delivered), under the florescent lights they looked very dark dusty rose, and I about fainted! Then Sarah came out to pick them up, and she tried one on. It looked so fugly that we were really getting concerned!
Fortunately, when Keri, came over to Sarah’s house to try it on, they LOVED them! As you can see it looks awesome on Kerri! They were thrilled with them.
All I have to say, is “Whew!”
I’m not sure where my day went yesterday, but It’s gone, and it doesn’t feel like I got much done! I did manage to do the laundry, and I cleaned out all my jewelery boxes, because they were a tangled up mess!
Today I plan on getting down to working on the slide show. Tomorrow Sarah’s coming out to assemble invitations, and to make pew bows. It’s only 126 days until the wedding! ACCKKK!!
For someone who spends countless hours online, I sure tend to forget to blog! It’s not even that I forget so much, but I just don’t have much going on these days!
The flowers shown here are lily-sorbonnes and Sarah is going to have 4 of them, with some pink roses, and a little greenery for her bouquet. The bridesmaids will have one lily, with roses. You can also see pictures of the little country church in my Flickr. It has a huge ass ugly, plain white wall at the front, so we will be draping that with pink and white fabric. We’ve got 2 pedestals for the 2 arrangements ordered, as well as a big, candelabra. We will need to make 28 pew bows, as there are 3 rows of pews (2 aisles). I don’t think we’ll use an aisle runner, as I have visions of tripping down the aisle, but maybe that’s just me.
Ben is finished with his schooling now, and just this moment left for work. Having him back home is not “great”, but not “horrible”. It’s not great when I go to leave for work, and he’s parked behind me in the driveway. Hubby thinks it’s not great when his remotes have been “moved”. It’s not “great” when we’re enjoying a nice, quiet evening, and he appears unexpected. It’s not horrible to be able to chat with him (when he’s here) and find out what’s going on in his life, but it’s not great when you get more information than you want!! It sounds like he’ll be moving out in May with his buddy. Probably sub-letting Jay’s condo. Time will tell.
Well it’s time to finish getting ready and head to work. Wednesday is team meeting day, so no kids. Friday is a PD day for teachers, so no school for me. Tomorrow night is a hockey game, and it’s also Mark Messier’s jersey retirement ceremony, so that should be fun. Thursday night is another hockey game, so I’m glad I don’t have to work on Friday. My poor Oilers are playing very well in spite of a ton of injuries, even though they’re not getting the results. Playoff hopes are slim, but at least they’re entertaining to watch now!
This is back in the day when they were still cute. I’ve been working on the slideshow for 3 days non-stop this weekend. I feel like a shut-in. I have the headache, and stiff neck from hell from working so damn much! I’m going to have to do a lot of cuts to it though, because it’s going to get too long once I add Jay’s family pictures. What can I say?? I took lots of pictures of the girl growing up! heh I’ve already cut all kinds from the ones I scanned. The good thing is that I have 5 months left to edit it! I’ll actually be glad to have to go to work tomorrow and get out of this HOUSE!
Ben left the house quite early this morning. His band had their third gig tonight. They opened for Those Damn Coyotes at Filthy McNasties. Am I proud? I’m not sure. Hubby wanted to go and hear them, but I didn’t really think we’d “fit in” at Filthy’s. LMAO
This picture just makes me laugh! It’s hard to imagine that this little cry baby is the daughter that’s going to get married in 5 1/2 months time! I’ve been having a grand time digging through old photos and scanning them. Brings back so many memories. Christmas, birthday parties, camping trips, sports, and more sports. Reminds me of how very busy we used to be!!
Sarah and Jay just left after dropping off Miles for the week, so Stanley is a happy cat. If they misbehave at night, I’m just going to lock them down in the basement to bother Ben! heh
Ben left for work a couple of hours ago, he’s doing the Oilers broadcast tonight, so he had to go in a little bit early. Hubby called, and he’s on his way home soon, and hopefully will get here in time to watch the game!
Congratulations to Bekah & Mark She’s absolutely a gorgeous little Valentine!!
