Hi Ho Hi Ho - It’s Off To Work I Go

Well I’m just sitting here drinking coffee and surfing blogs, but in about 2 minutes I’m going to head upstairs to get dressed and go off to work.  I’m less than thrilled!  As you may remember, my boss totally futzed me over last fall, and messed with my assignment for this year, with no cause, other than a misconception she has about a young employeed.  For this reason, I’m not looking forward to this year at all!  I think everything about my schedule and duties is going to change, and none of it will be for the better.

I’m also not happy about having to leave the pups crated all day!  At least it’s only for today, as tomorrow, hubby gets off early, and then he’s off for 2 weeks.  He’s going to be at home to look after the pups, and give them another 2 weeks to mature.  After that, he’s hoping to be transferred to a store that’s only 15 minutes from home, so he’ll come home on his lunch hours and free them for a bit!

Details to follow……

Close, But Not Quite!

Little Gabriel was singing today:

“Rain, rain, go away……..

Come Again on Mother’s Day!”

Michael was also singing,

“On top of spaghettis all covered with cheese, I lost my poor neatball, when somebody sneezed.”

Classroom Ha Ha’s

Today little Michael was on a roll!  He’s very sweet, and some times he just comes up with things that crack me UP!

1. We were doing a craft, and the teacher says, “oops I’m bad…” cause she had done something wrong, and he said, “Do you need to go sit in the blue chair??”  (the naughty spot).  LMAO

2. We were in gym class, and the teacher told the kids she was pregnant, and they were feeling her tummy.  As the kids were lined up to leave the gym, I said, “OK… we’re going in the hallway, so you need to be quiet.”  Michael quietly whispered, “Don’t wake up the baby!”

It Pissadeared!

I had a whole big long post typed up last night, griping about parents who send their kids to school sick, to share with the rest of the class, and cop an attitude when asked about it. HELLO… your kid is not the only one here! I don’t care if childcare is an issue. The health of the other kids is a much bigger issue. You had kids, it’s up to you to figure it out. If your child barfs in the morning…….he’s likely going to barf again …. even if he “really wanted to come to school”. Who’s the adult? And for the record…….I’m not a fan of cleaning up the barf! Sheesh

Fly??

Yesterday during story time, our SLP was reading a story, and having the children act it out. Near the end of the story, she reads “….the toboggan hit a bump, and the kids flew through the air….” Little A, got this incredibly serious, and incredulous look on her face, and said, “Kids can’t fly!!” I snickered like crazy, because the way she said it so seriously, and in complete disbelief, as if that SLP was the stupidest woman on this earth!

Just as Bad As Expected

Ughh that conference was every bit as bad as I thought it would be! It was 2 LONG ass sessions. The first was a keynote speaker, who spoke about her experiences raising her daughter with Down syndrome, and how she taught her to read. It was interesting enough, but there was no real tangible information to use back in the classroom. The afternoon session was about Playing with Purpose, and while there were a few good tips and tricks, for the most part it was just telling us more of what we do, and the woman was too busy trying to “amuse” us. We left at 3:15, even though she wasn’t finished, so that we could beat the rush hour traffic. I’m also catching a cold, so I was sitting there with a scratchy throat most of the day. Blech!

Shoot Me Now!

*gag* In an hour, I have to meet C and drive into the city to attend an all day Early Ed Conference. Blech! I am sure I have developed ADD in my mid-life! It pains me GREATLY to attempt to sit still and “pay attention” for that length of time. The other thing I despise at conferences is when you have to do “role playing” or “brain storming”. When I sign up, I always watch for those things, and if the description contains anything like that……I’m outta there!

Yuck!

We have the stomach flu going through our classroom. YUCK is about all I have to say about that! I am a tough cookie, BUT when it comes to barfing, vomiting, or whatever you want to call it, I am a major HYPIOCHONDRIAC! The only problem is when I was explaining it to the teacher, I told her I was a major NYMPHOMANIAC. Not so much the same thing! *shakes head*
