Pronger - Dejected and DONE

Well, well, that BITES, but doesn’t surprise me even in the slightest the way they played through this tournament! I think next Olympics NHL players will be allowed again, because it’s here in Canada, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if after that it’s done. Many of these NHL guys do not play with the urgency and drive to win an Olympic medal the way, say the Canadian women do. The woman are together as a team for 8 months and train and play and practice with the sole purpose of winning an Olympic medal. This band of egos arrived 24 hours before their first game, and their highest priority is winning the Stanley Cup! As it should be, as it’s those teams that pay their salary. You have to play as a team, not as 12 supah stahs!

I feel bad for them, and I’m mad, because I’m a Piss Poor Sport, but it’s done like dinner.

The USA faired exactly as good as us with their team of NHL players.

Thank the Hockey Gods!

Today we finally won again! 3-2 against the Czechs. I had the scoreboard up on the computer at school, and every 10 minutes or so, I’d go refresh the page to see what the score was. Within minutes, it seemed, it was 3-0 for Canada at the end of the first. Mid-way through the second it was 3-1, then 3-2…. I was SCARED to check after that, but totally relieved when the score said, FINAL. Whew! I wore my Ryan Smyth Team Canada jersey to work today, so that “had” to be the magic touch. Also Pronger (our other Edmonton Oiler) sucked it up and got a goal and an assist. Prior to today, he’d been playing like a sissy! Pffffft

On to Russia! *gulp*

Olympic Hockey

I’m watching the US-Sweden game right now, and soon I’ll move my buns and get the laundry going and some clenaing finished, and then at 1:00 it’s the Canada-Finland game. I sure hope “the boys” have a better effort than yesterday! If they don’t, they’ll be coming home very early!

Ben and Jess are coming out for dinner tomorrow. It is “Family Day” here, so it’s a holiday.

But Not Today!

I thought I better create a Team Canada layout to hopefully change the way things went this morning. (yes I’m superstitious like that). We were totally outplayed and outsmarted by the Swiss today. Hopefully it wakes up these guys and they have a better effort tomorrow. ESPECIALLY since I was up at 7:30 am on a Saturday to watch the game! Pfffft. The problem is, they need to play our Oiler, Ryan (over there) more!! Every time he had a shift, he either drew a penalty, or created an opportunity. Have Pat Q*uinn phone me. I’ll clue him in.

In other news, it’s a long weekend here, but I don’t have anything much planned other than the usual housework, laundry, kids coming for dinner Sunday, and much watching of the Olympics.

Rawk On Esks!

Ray-11.27.jpg The 2005 Grey Cup game was awesome! Very exciting! Right down to double overtime! The Eskimos won!! We had 10 people out to watch the game. Just hubby’s folks, Ben and 3 of his buddies, Sarah, Jay and Adam. I went for groceries first thing this morning, came home and made a huge lasagna to throw in the oven later. Hubby made hot wings, and we put out a lot of yummy munchies to eat during the game, and then we had lasagna near the end of the game. We had pumpkin swirl cheesecake for desert. We had a good time. I also got a lot of cleaning and some of the laundry done before everyone got here.

I was supposed to go to a PD thing tomorrow, but I’ve decide to not bother. I’ll take hubby out to the airport instead, and then I think I’ll head into the city to try and wrap up my Christmas shopping, or at least the bulk of it. Hubby will be gone for a week, so that will be rather “strange”.
