Long Weekend Laziness

It’s the Victoria Day long weekend here, and it’s a fairly common tradition that one should plant their flowers this weekend. I have no interest in doing any such thing at this point. The greenhouses are insanely busy, and the weather is rather uncooperative. It’s like 59 degrees and windy here, so I’m thinking NOT!

Sarah called from New York the other night, and she was pretty excited! They flew from Toronto on the same plane as Kiefer Sutherland, so they were star gazing.

Food, Food, and MORE Food

Supper turned out great. Sarah and Jay appreciated the meal, and shared stories from university. Sarah assisted in two mastectomies, and a hernia operation yesterday, so she had lots to tell. Jay had mid-terms next week, and the reading week break, so he’ll be going home for a week. They ate lots, helped clean up, and then looked high and low for the video tape we have of when Sarah and Ben were in a skating carnival about 13 years ago. Needless to say we didn’t find it, and Ben wasn’t home to hide it, so we don’t quite know where that is at the moment. I sent home leftovers with both of them. They left early to go home, as Jay had studying to do, and Sarah was pooped.

They no sooner left, when Ben and Gordon arrived, on their way to go to the gym, smelled lasagna, and sat down and gobbled up a big plate of food each.

The damn phone rang at 7:30 am and it was hubby’s work of course! Then it rang 3 more times. All work related for him. It is his day to work late, so neither of us had to get up. Ben overslept, so we were all sound asleep. I was so pissed off, but managed to go back to sleep. Then at 9:00 am, hubby brought me BREAKFAST in BED to make up for the stupid phone calls. That, and the fact that he was feeling very happy, because one of the phone calls was to tell him that one of his best friends has been transferred to his store to be his produce manager, so he’s really excited about that! Either way, I got scrambled eggs, peanut butter on toast, orange juice and coffee! SCORE!

Ho Hum

As I was arriving at work this morning, I saw Nick, his Mom and brothers getting out of the car. I could tell by Nick’s body language that he was giving his mother big grief about going into the school, so I stopped my car beside them, and pointed to the school and smiled at him. He started taking a few steps towards the school. I parked my car and then noticed he was still hollering and carrying on, so I walked on over. His Mom had to come into the school to speak to Hazel, and Nick was pissed! LOL (you see Mom is not supposed to get out of the car now that we have him coming into the school by himself…. that’s a BIG deal in the land of Auti*sm) He settled down and came in with me. All was well until we were in Grade 2. Susan went over to see what he was doing, and asked him to do something, and he yells at her, “I’m NOT a kid anymore!!” Susan and I have the worst time keeping a straight face in that room together!

On Friday, one of the little girls in our class came running in to Susan to report that Nash was in the hallway jumping around, and being silly! AND she said, he has HAM in his pocket, and he ATE it! She made such a disgusted little face!!! Susan and I stifled a giggle or 2. When Nash returned to the classroom, Susan called him over, and asked him what he’d been doing! (now Nash is a goofy looking little guy, with big ears, and a look of I’ll-never-be-a-rocket-scientist written all over his face) He replied that he’d been going to the bathroom! Susan says, “You weren’t out there eating ham??? “(to which I’m nearly wetting my pants) “No!!” Susan impatiently replies, “You were SO! I can spell it on your breath!!!” I quickly piped in, “Nash!! The proof is on your lips!” By then Susan is nearly split in two! hehehe…. I’m such a shit disturber!!

Whittling Down the List

Let’s see, it’s 8:45 am, and I have made my lasagna, and it’s sitting in the fridge, all yummy, cheesy goodness, ready to pop in the oven this afternoon. I have tidied up a few things that needed to be put back in their proper spots, I have cleaned the main floor drive through bathroom, made my bed, and now I’m having a coffee break. Next on the list is dusting. Bet you’re all JEALOUS of my exciting day! HeH!

More Home Renos

Hubby has been fast and furiously ripping out the carpets in the TV room and hot tub/workout room downstairs. He’s laying cream colored berber carpet down there, so it’s really brightened it up! All he has left is the baseboards in the hot tub room, and then the stairway. I’m going to paint the stairwell and TV room down there eventually when he’s all finished.

While he was fussing and banging around in the basement I cleaned the upstairs really well. Tomorrow I’ll hit the main floor, and clean that now that hubby is finished tracking up the whole house with his renos.

Tomorrow is my Mom’s birthday. She will be 72 years old. My brother is bringing her up for dinner on Saturday. They haven’t seen the house since we put in all the new flooring, so they’re excited to see everything. My brother is having laminate flooring installed in his kitchen right away too.

Bitch of the Day: Ever notice that home renos are like a never ending circle? I painted the main floor all summer, and finally got all the touch-ups and everything finished, paints put away, etc. Then we decided rather suddenly to install hardwood floors. Well needless to say, my paint job took quite a few nicks and dings! I finally got all those touch ups done a couple of weeks ago. Now, hubby did that carpeting, and yet AGAIN I’ve got touch ups! Grrrrr (but it looks mighty fine)

Finished for the Day

Well I’ve been on the go non-stop since early morning, so now I’m going to lay down and rest this arm on some heat before it starts causing me grief!

I was at Physio by 8:00 am and had my regular treatment, and then I had an assessment to be fitted for orthodics. From there, I went in and bought groceries, came home and got those all put away, started some laundry, worked out, made a huge lasagna for supper, showered, had homemade soup for lunch, took the hair-bag cats outside to brush them, changed the bed, and now I’m resting here!

The Oilers won again last night!!! The race is SO close for the last playoff spot, whichis 8th, that when you go to bed at night they’ll be in 7th, and by morning, they’re in 9th! All depends on what the 3 teams that are absolutely neck and neck do each night. It’s stressing me out man! But, are the games EVER exciting!

Thank Heavens!

I’m so VERY glad that the end of the week has arrived! Today was swimming day, and it went fairly well. Nick behaved well until this afternoon, then he spent most of Art time laying on the floor laughing hysterically (loudly) at something amusing only to him.

I’m not happy about something that’s been going on at work for the past couple of weeks. As you all know (because I’ve been whining about if for weeks) I’ve had a buggered up shoulder/elbow for at least 6 weeks. It happened when wrestling Nick down the hall one day. I end up carrying him around a lot when he’s having a hissy fit. Anyways, it got to the point that I finally went to the doctor, and he put me on restricted duty at work. No lifting over 15 pounds. So I phoned the teacher for our room, and told her, I either couldn’t lift, or would not be in. She insisted that we would work around everything and I should work. Of course that was a whole load of crap! The first day or two, she tried to help me out a bit, but that didn’t last long! We went bowling a week ago, and she got up to help Nick the first 2 turns, and after that it was me. This month it was my turn to not have to go swimming, but she kept another lady back instead because she had a RASH on her neck. Oh puhlease! So sure enough, I was lugging Nick around all day again today. At one point he tried to jump in the hot tub, so I of course instinctively caught him full weight with my gimpy arm. then this afternoon he was acting up a lot, and of course she couldn’t get out of her chair to help me out at all!! I go back to the doctor on Tuesday after school, and I hope he tells me to stay home until the damn thing is better. I’m tired of getting no support on this.

Mellow Day

Thankfully today, was a relatively normal, quiet day. Nicholas was fairly well behaved, so I got a break there. It was even a nice warm day, so I didn’t have to freeze my rear off on outdoor supervision today either!

Being the lazy ass I am, and the fact that I HAD to watch American Idol, I gave Ben my ticket for tonight’s hockey game.

Today at school, I was working with Brandon in reading. We were doing a “Elf & Shoemaker” type story, only they were making workboots. When I asked Brandon how they made them, his reply was, “They knitted them!” Hmmmm

A Weekend

I don’t know if we’re going to all get sick around here, or what!

Last night I dragged my ass home from work, unloaded groceries, got the supper cooking, as well as a crock pot of soup for the weekend. Settled in on the couch and pretty much slept there off and on until 10:00 pm when I moved up to bed, and slept nearly straight through until 6:00 when hubby went to work.

Sarah came home from university and then work last night and said she was getting a bad cold, and Ben just woke up at 7:15 to go to work, and said he felt like he was gonna hork up a lung, so he went back to bed.

Hubby asked me why I was so tired last night. Hmmm! Well let me see……I woke up at 5:15 am and worked out for 45 minutes. Had breakfast, made my lunch, showered, worked the morning, ran and got groceries during my lunch hour, worked the afternoon, came home unloaded groceries, put on a big crock pot of home made soup, got supper made, and did 3 loads of laundry. Geeze………I can’t figure it out!

A Weekend

This weekend was spent putting up the Christmas decorations and going to the Oilers game on Saturday. Sunday was spent finishing up chores, laundry, and it seemed like I did a lot of cooking and dishwashing! I also watched Bruce Almighty with Ben.

I finally have to work a 5 day week for the next 2 weeks. Likely to give me cardiac arrest!
