Buddies

It’s cold here again. Can you tell by the way Wicket and Ice are cuddled up in front of the fire. Also, Wicket has been wearing a sweater since he got shaved last week, otherwise he just shivers!!

They got Ben and Jess all settled in, and got all their furniture assembled, and the garbage all hauled out. Ben took his truck for a vehicle inspection today, because that’s standard law in BC before you get insurance. It failed, because one of his headlights has a crack in the lense! Geeze!

On the Move

Well today was a pretty emotional day for me. Not in the blubbering, puddle of goo way, But, just a bit teary if I thought too long and hard about the fact that my 21 year old “baby” boy and his fiance have moved to another province, 10 hours away, instead of the usual 20 minutes that he’s always been. I’m excited for them, and their new start in a beautiful city, but It will be different not seeing them every Sunday night at family dinners!

In happy news, I have the house to myself for the whole weekend, because hubby and his Dad are driving a trailer down with all their furniture. Also, this is the start of Spring Break for me, so a week off! WOOT! And…. currently the Oilers are winning in the third period! As a side note: Peter Foresburg is a big old whiney baby! Every time the Oilers hit him, he whines and complains and carries on! Suck it up buttercup!

Another random thought… I’ve become addicted to Twitter!

Happy Easter!

I’ve become a terrible blogger, and I’m really not sure why! I’m online just as much as ever, I just don’t seem to accomplish anything while here! So as usual I’ll just update a few details of life around here in the frozen north. (piss off to those of you who are having summer weather already!)

  • My uber high blood pressure is finally headed into the “high normal” range after taking copious quantities of “old lady” pills. I don’t feel any different. Just extremely annoyed that I have to take all these stupid meds. I guess that’s why they call it “the silent killer”.
  • Work seems to have been fairly frantic the past couple of weeks, and I was really happy to have these 4 days off, as next week is going to be a doozey too!
  • Turns out I was happy too soon, as I have to take 2 days off this week to take my Mom to the hospital for tests. This means I have to actually clean my house, and that is a daunting task. I always “clean” my house, but not the way my Mom does, or the way I used to in my anal retentive era. What do you think my chances are, with 4 cats and 2 dogs?? I recommended to Mom to buy a white track suit so the hair won’t show (it’s the 2 white cats that shed so much).
  • Thursday night, we start loading up the U-Haul to move Ben and Jess to BC. I’ve decided not to go, as hubby wants to only go for 2 nights, and come right back. It’s a 12 hour drive, and that’s way too much for the pups. His Dad is going to travel with him, and Sarah and Jay are also going to go, and haul any extra stuff, and then make a side trip to Jay’s Grandparents. I’ll have the weekend all to myself, which will be nice after the busy week.
  • I’m sad that the kids are moving so far away, and am hoping they’re not making a mistake. At least it’s a mistake that can be quite easily rectified if it is indeed one.
  • I’ve had cell phone issues. My old Treo died, so I bought a Krzr. I just couldn’t fall in love with a flip phone again, so I bought a Rumour on EBay. That deal fell through, so I bought a Treo 680 on EBay, and that deal fell through! I finally ended up with a Treo 750 which I now have, and while it’s taking me a long time to adjust to Windows Mobile, I am finally liking it well enough. If you know of anyone who wants to buy a barely used Krzr with all the accessories, let me know!
  • Sarah and Jay are pretty stressed, as both their condos are now on the market, so that’s quite a lot to deal with as you can well imagine! Also, it’s quite up in the air as to when Jay’s sister and hubby will be moved out of the little house on the farm where Sarah and Jay will be living while they build their house.
  • Jay graduates in a month and is THRILLED to finally be done! Sarah is pretty sad about leaving the children’s hospital where she’s worked since she graduated. She’s been getting shifts as charge nurse in the O.R. so her career is going really well. Moving to a small, understaffed, under financed, rural hospital is not going to be the same.
  • Sarah and Jay are getting a purebred Husky pup in July. They’ve already got him “ordered” and know the parents.
  • I got new progressive lens glasses, further proof of the geriatrics setting in, and my lazy side has been wearing them daily, rather than messing with my contact lenses.
  • The Oilers have been so exciting the past month. All the kids have stepped up with the absence of the 4 veterans who have been out for the year since 2 months ago. I’m so glad they’re fighting up to the last minute, and going out in style. Last year they won 2 out of their last 20, and it was PAINFUL!! We played Ryan Smyth the other night, and whupped their asses, and as much as I NEVER though I’d say this, I’m thrilled we have Bobby Nilsson now, rather than Smytty. ssshhhh!
Even though we’re only 3 points out of a playoff spot, it’s just so close that it’s an extreme long shot to make it. Especially since all our remaining games are against Calgary, Colorado, Minnesota and Vancouver! Chicago and Nashville are right on our asses, and their remaining games are in a much easier division, so we’ll definitely need some more help (Colorado)!
  • I’m supposed to be going for a pedicure with Sarah this afternoon before we go to the MIL’s for Easter dinner. Time to dust off the winter toes!
  • The pups are doing great, and are finally being trusted to go “visiting” now. They went on their first long (1 hour) car trip to my Mom’s yesterday, and they behaved really well! I did give Wicket gravol though, because he gets carsick if we go much further than 20 minutes.

Well enough babbling and procrastinating. I best get moving on cleaning up this place. Gawd help me!

The Boys Are Ready for the Game

Pooch Fans!I’m getting ready to do a few quick chores, and then watch the Oilers game on TV.  As you can see, the pups are wearing their jerseys too.  They also have Oiler collars, leashes, and tags too (of course!)  Might as well spread the fanaticism!  We gave our tickets to the game to our next door neighbor.  It’s cold and nasty out, and hubby and I would just as soon plop our fat asses on our comfy couches, open a beer, and watch it at home.  The Oilers have been playing very well as of late!  They’re pretty much mathematically out of the playoffs even if they went on a tremendous winning streak.  It’s still great fun to watch all the rookies, like Sam Gagner, Andrew Cogliano, Robert Nilsson, Tom Gilbert, etc.  They’re really thriving with all the added ice time due to all our injuries.  Yesterday the Oilers had their annual skills competition, and they sold it out!!  Unbelievable, the support of this team, even in the bad times!  The even raised $75,000 for charity. Go Oil!!

After the game, of course, we’ll have to watch Big Brother, with hopes that it starts to get more interesting.  It looks like this week, Allison and Ryan start to get closer.  That would serve that lying Jen brat right!  hehe
