Been a While!
I don’t know what it is about me and blogging lately. I think a large part of it is that I’m just hibernating, impatiently waiting for winter to be over, although the weather has been quite a bit warmer now. Since I don’t do much of anything exciting, I’ll update you on what’s going on with the rest of my family.
Sarah - Sarah left Thursday at midnight on her first medical mission to Ecuador She arrived there Saturday morning. They had Sunday to shop at the local market, as that is their one free day. Today was their first day in surgery. I got this update from her today:
“Hi Mom!
Had a great day today. First day of “work” today. I got to scrub on one of the 2 cases we did, and I keep hitting my head on the old, clunky, and very LOW O.R. lights!! 8 times today, hopefully less tomorrow! It feels really good to be down here and doing this work. My body is finally regulating itself…took a few days to get to normal…!
Good to hear Miles is fitting in nicely! About to go out for dinner!
Love,
Sarah”
So that’s mostly what’s going on with her. She will be there for 10 days.
Jay - He is home on the farm this week during reading week, so at least he’s got things to do while Sarah is away. He is VERY anxiously counting the days until he graduates from university with his degree in Crop Sciences. He’s just “over” the school thing and wants to be a regular grown up, married man, move to the farm with Sarah and start building their house!
Ben & Jess - They just returned from another trip to Kelowna, and this time they found an apartment to rent, and signed the lease. Ben also found 2 potential jobs for himself. They have bumped up their moving date, so they will be leaving the province April 1.
Me - We’ve had a lot of extra days off this past 2 weeks, and I can’t believe how “little” I’ve accomplished during those days! It’s appalling, really! I’ve turned into the biggest slug ever! Changes must be made! Work is going very well. We took the kids out tobogganing last week, and they had a blast! My little girl, didn’t want to get on, so I just plopped my fat ass on the crazy carpet, dumped her in my lap, and away we went! We ended up going ass over tea kettle, but she at least went once!
Well I think I’ll call this an entry. This picture is Sarah showing how much taller she is than the other pediatric OR nurse! I’m sure I’ll be back sooner than later with more Ecuador pictures to post.

Well I for one liked this entry and getting an update on everyone! I feel like I am getting nothing accomplished on my days off lately - I had last Friday off and spent the whole day in front of the computer! ACH! Have a great week and can’t wait to see more pics from Ecuador. I laughed when I read about her hitting her head on the OR lights. LOL
Sounds like Sarah is doing great in Ecuador. You must be so proud of her.
I remember feeling like Jay and wanting to be done with school and to get on with my life. It was a restlessness that about drove me crazy. Made the last few months of classes drag too.
Good to hear from you Bev!!
