Unemployed and Jittery

Exactly one week from now, we will probably be just finishing desert at Sarah and Jay’s wedding reception.  ACCCKKKKK! I’m excited, yet somewhat freaked out at the same time!  Today, I finished up the slide show, and am now burning the copies.  I spent months working on the original slide show, and a week ago decided I could do better, so I redid the whole thing.  Work was good this week.  We had the year end party on Tuesday, and it went really well.  We had perfect weather, and my video made many of the moms cry - mission accomplished.  They loved it! The next 3 days were spent cleaning, and organizing for next year.  Cindy and I worked our butts off!  My “replacement” did diddly squat!

On a sad note, a co-worker was diagnosed with breast cancer this week.  She is having a masectomy on Thursday.  Can you believe they send her home the very next day??  Her husband is currently in the hospital and not doing very well.   He had a hernia that got all infected, so he had to have major surgery to clean all that up, and there was no ideas as to when he will get home.  Hearing of his wife’s diagnosis is certainly not going to help his recovery I’m sure!

The next thing I have to do for this wedding is do something to “fancify” the wine goblets for the head table.  I have an idea, but I have to see if it’s doable.  If anyone has an idea, by all means, let me know!  Then I have to do 7 more pew bows.  The last thing after that, is to set up the archway, and decide how to decorate it, take pictures, and then put all the items together and pack them up. We get the motor home on Tuesday, so I’ll be loading it up with clothes, etc.  Wednesday we will pack up the last of the wedding supplies, and meet Sarah who will have Jay’s truck, to load up all the rental items.  Then it’s off to Standard until Sunday.  Ben & Jess will be staying out here at the house looking after Miles and our cats.  They will come down for the rehearsal on Friday night.

I’ve totally gotten used to my gel nails, and I LOVE them.  I’m sure I’m hooked.  I got them filled on Wednesday, and Tuesday, I’ll have her give them a once over, and I’m getting my haircut.  I’ve also been tanning, and have a pretty good base colour now. My chest is just a nice colour, but damn my calves are stubborn about tanning!!!  That was the body part where I most wanted some colour!  I only have one more opportunity to go to the tanning salon before I leave, but if the weather is nice, I’ll try to stick my legs out a bit.

We take “possession” of the hall on Thursday, so we technically have 3 full days to turn it into a pink paradise!  That’s a great relief to me!  That’s really the biggest task we’ve taken on, and that’s doing all the decorating ourselves.  We also have to do the church, but we’re not doing a great deal there.  We’re putting up some sparkling pink organza to spice up a very plain backdrop in the church, having 2 large bouquets set on some brushed nickel pillars, the pew bows, and “possibly” the arch.  We’ll decide that when we get there.  It’s supposed to be MAJOR hot next Saturday, and that has been one of my biggest fears!  How the hell am I supposed to wear a 3 piece suit in that kind of heat?  I sweat and roasted all winter!!!  This is why I’m taking a simple black and pink dress to change into after pictures.  I want to be comfortable for the reception and dance.  I’m not sure if I’ll change for dinner, or for the dance.  I can guarantee you there will be no air conditioning there!!!

Last Day!

Today is the year end party for both classes. It couldn’t come quick enough after these past few days of school. They’ve been so loud and rowdy! Acck! I spent the whole weekend working on a slide show for today, turning it into a DVD, and then printing out copies for my co-workers. It turned out really cute. Then I printed out pictures for each child that I had taken through the year, and then put them in frames we’d bought, and included a really nice poem.

After I finished all of that, I got a bee in my bonnet and started over with Sarah’s slide show! I must be SICK! I’m doing it all over in a completely different format, that will allow me to save this one in DVD format which I know that the close family members I was going to make copies for will appreciate much more than having a CD that has to be played on the computer.

Do you realize this wedding is LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY!???

The World’s Shortest Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl “Will you marry me?” The girl said,”NO!” And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, dancing, camping, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, didn’t get fat, traveled more, had many lovers, didn’t save money, and had all the hot water to herself. She went to the theater, never watched sports, never wore friggin’ lacy lingerie that went up her butt and had high self esteem, never cried or yelled, felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants and was pleasant all the time.

Accomplishments

Surprisingly, I’ve accomplished quite a few things today. I got all the wedding service programs printed. They just need to be folded. I got the table number cards printed, and the placecards for the 3 tables we’re using them on. I also designed and printed up the CD covers and labels. So, things are going good. I’m also doing laundry while I work. Hopefully tomorrow I can start burning the slide show copies.

I also bought a digital photo frame that I thought would be fun to have at the guest book table at the reception. I plan to load it with digital pictures taken at the wedding for people to view.

Tips for us ladies in year 2007

1. Aspire to be Barbie - the bitch has everything.
2. If the shoe fits - buy one in every color.
3. Take life with a pinch of salt… a wedge of lime, and a shot of tequila
4. In need of a support group? - Cocktail hour with the girls!
5. Go on the 30 day diet. (I’m on it and so far I’ve lost 15 days).
6. When life gets you down - just put on your big girl panties and deal with it.
7. Let your greatest fear be that there is no PMS and this is just my personality.
8. I know I’m in my own little world, but it’s ok. They know me here.
9. Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself.
10. Don’t get your knickers in a knot, it solves nothing; and makes you walk funny.
11. When life gives you lemons in 2007 - turn it into lemonade then mix it with vodka.
12. Remember every good looking; sweet, single male is someone else’s ex boyfriend!

Modern Day Torture Chamber

I had my very first experience with the fake and bake machine today. I said all along that I would do some tanning before the wedding, so that my legs aren’t snow white with the exception of many and various bruises. I also want my shoulders, arms and back to be even. Right now I’ve got “sleeveless” lines, as I get my arms, part of my chest and back somewhat coloured on the 3 days that it’s actually been nice here.

I have to say I was quite dreading the whole process, as I’m always so over-heated, I couldn’t possibly imagine deliberately subjecting myself to HEAT! Then to crawl into a coffin shaped machine, wearing bug-eyed goggles , while otherwise mostly naked, only to pull the lid down on yourself and enclose yourself in a noisy, hot box of torture!

Since I’m so pasty, she recommended that I start with 5 minutes. Hell! I can stand anything for that length of time.

I was actually surprised at how nice it actually was! HEH

Ewwwwwwww

Yuck!!!
Hubby went outside to let Stanley in, and in pounced, and proudly came out of the bushes with an itty bitty mouse in his mouth and laid it a hubbies feet. Ugggh! Anyways, he let go, and the mouse escaped, and Stanley is confined to barricks!

The Day

Today kind of just seemed to slip away. I felt kind of tired and out of it. I’m not sure why. I fought and carried on with that slide show all the live long day. I’m still not satisfied with it. I really need to get it finished!

Don’t mind how nasty this picture is! I’m not losing my hair, but you’d never know it by this picture! Ha!

Hubby and I tried to watch some TV tonight, but we were just too bagged and boring to get into anything.

Ben phoned me yesterday to tell me how proud I’d be of him. I asked him why. He said, “Because the last 3 weeks I’ve cleaned the condo, and it takes me about an hour and a half! I don’t rush or anything!” LMAO I always used to get so mad at him when he was a kid. I’d ask him to dust the house and it would take him 5.5 minutes. It would take me an hour! That’s how he used to do everything (including schoolwork) at the speed of light!

Fairly Productive

Today I got some cleaning and laundry done. I also got the slide show completely finished except for 1 final tweak that I’m having trouble with. Then I need to design the cover/labels and burn the copies. I also went for a haircut and manicure. I had hoped to wait until the wedding, but I couldn’t stand it, so I’ll just go back for a touch up a couple of days before we leave. Well a few more minutes on the slide show, and then it’s time for a cold one!
