Dress Drama

As I mentioned, I’m going to get my suit altered this week. I’m just waiting for TOM to pass, so I’m not all bloated (more than usual). This dress is one of the options I’m considering using for the dinner/dance, or maybe even just the dance. I think it would work fine, it’s comfortable, will be cooler, and the colors will still work nicely with everyone. Do you think this would be okay?? What color shoes would you wear with it? Black? Or something else for summer? I need some help girlfriends!

I think Ben and I are going after work to get him “suited up”. Hubby may join us and get his at the same time, depending on what he’s up to at that time.

I signed my call back for work yesterday, and I’ll be in a grade 2/3 split special ed class in the morning, and in the preschool in the afternoon. I can certainly live with that, and all relationships at school are very cordial again, after a very “rough” week. I think the reason I got so terribly upset, is that first of all, it caught me completely off guard. I wasn’t anticipating any changes at all. Secondly, I was immediately suspicious of the motivations (and I still don’t think I’m entirely wrong in that area), but the main reason is that I have very low self-esteem, but the two things I always knew I was good at, were being a mom, and my job. Lately I don’t have to be so much of a mom, and here they were making me feel like I wasn’t very good at my job either. Made me feel OLD, and like they were putting me out to pasture. Just send me to the damn glue factory!!!

Katie the Flowergirl! Loving her New “Pretty” Dress.

Isn’t Katie a doll?? Sarah took her dress down to her last weekend and she tried it on. She was just thrilled with it! It needs to be altered, but Mom will get it done just before the wedding in case she grows.

I’m meeting my brother tomorrow after work to buy his suit for the wedding. I should actually get Ben to meet us there too, and we can buy his shirt and shoes that he needs. I’ve got to make him try on his suit too! The last time he was out here, he looked like he was getting broader and thicker in the shoulders. EEK!

This week I also need to take my suit in to get it altered. I was waiting for my SPANX and my shoes to arrive. I’ve got a choice of 2 dresses that I’ve decided I’m taking along to the wedding. If it’s beastly hot, I’m going to wear my suit for the ceremony and pictures, and then change into a comfortable sleeveless dress for the dinner and dance. Unless I decide my suit is more comfortable than I think it’s going to be!

Things at work have settled down “somewhat”. I’m still not happy about things, but decided that in order to stay with the staff that I really enjoy, I’d deal with it. I can always look around in the summer for something else too.

Today we’re going with 3 other couples out to the lake to our friend’s cabin. They’re going to golf, and then we’re going to eat. I’m not real excited about the golf part, as I can’t golf anymore with my gimpy shoulder and knee, so I’ll just be driving the cart and sweating and swatting mosquitoes (which are NASTY this year)!

Little Johnny

A new teacher was trying to make use of her psychology courses. She started her class by saying, “Everyone who thinks they’re stupid, stand up!” After a few seconds, Little Johnny stood up. The teacher said, “Do you think you’re stupid, Little Johnny?” “No, ma’am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn’t paying attention in class. She called on him and said, “Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?” Little Johnny quickly replied, “NBC, FOX, ESPN and the Cartoon Network!”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Little Johnny’s kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures tacked to a bulletinboard of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. “Yes,” said the policeman. “The detectives want very badly to capture him.” Little Johnny asked, “Why didn’t you keep him when you took his picture?”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Little Johnny attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse’s legs and rump, and chest. After a few minutes, Johnny asked, “Dad, why are you doing that?” His father replied, “Because when I’m buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. Johnny, looking worried, said, “Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom.”

Wedding Update and Mother’s Day

This is Katie’s little flower girl dress. I haven’t seen it in person yet, as it just arrived (very quickly), Sarah said it is absolutely adorable!! She paid $8.99 on EBay, and it’s brand new! SCORE! So all the bridesmaids dresses have arrived. Sarah’s dress has arrived, and as of tonight’s work-bee, we have 21 of 28 pew bows finished! Tonight after Sarah left, I also made a vellum title insert for the little scrapbook Sarah’s doing up for Katie, I added some bling to the scrapbook album and wedding books that I got for Sarah. I’m giving her TONS of wedding scrapbooking supplies for her shower gift that’s being held down in the hall where they’ll be getting married. It’s on June 3rd.

My Mother’s day was nice. I was lazy all morning, and then Sarah came out and my brother came and picked us up and drove us down to Mom’s. We visited for a while, and then took her out to East Side Marios for an early dinner, dropped her off, and then came home.

Mom showed us the dress that she had bought, and it’s GORGEOUS! I was initially pissed, because she had told me it was dusty rose. Since my outfit is pink, I thought…. OMG, I’m going to “match my mother!” But she’s on crack, because her dress is a soft brown color! My suit arrived on Friday, and I LOVE it! It will need a bit of altering, but it overall it fit very well! The sleeves on the jacket are long enough, which is always an issue for me, the skirt is nice and long (nearly to the floor), also often an issue for me, since I’m 5′11″ tall. I’m going to get the shoulder pads removed from the jacket, as I’m already built like a linebacker, so I certainly do not need “padding” there. But on the other hand…. the inside camisole needs to be taken in quite a bit. Just because you have an ass the size of Texas, does NOT mean that you have knockers the size of watermelons!!! So the straps need to be lifted a bit, and the knocker region taken in a COUPLE OF INCHES!!

Honorary Flowergirls

Jay has a little niece, who is nearly 2 years old. She will have a baby sister next month! So Sarah named the 2 of them “honorary flowergirls”, and bought them these matching dresses. They’re absolutely adorable! They’re very soft and comfy feeling too. Not stiff and scratchy like some of the fussy dresses. We replaced the flower that is shown with a softer pink one that matches the decorations and things much better. It was a great improvement.

She bought them from EBay, and they arrived SO quickly!! I can’t wait to see them in them!

I Suck! 1/365 - DO-OVER

3 days in, and I already blew it! I’m not sure why I can’t remember to post! I should start posting on my lunch break or something! Although, every move we make on the computers is monitored, and I most certainly do NOT want work knowing about any of my blogs!

Sunday, the kids all came out for dinner, Jay surprised Sarah by coming up to spend the weekend with her, so she was delighted! Jess is also here, so the 4 of them went dress shopping on Saturday. Can you imagine my son dress shopping??!! Well maybe you can, because you don’t know him, but I do, and it just makes me snicker! Jess did find a dress, so that was a good thing, and Sarah bought Ben a new tie for his twice worn suit, which he will wear for the wedding. She bought him a grey and pink argyle patterned tie. He is the usher and MC. All he needs is a new shirt, and new shoes, and he’s set. My suit is as far as Richmond, B.C. I’m so freaking nervous about it fitting, that I could barf! Anything else I’ve ordered has not fit. The sizes vary so much that it’s rather nerve-wracking. I did use measurements, and made sure that I ordered it a little big, because it can be altered. If it’s too small, the chances of me finally getting off my fat ass, and going on a diet, are slim to ZIP!

I decorated Sarah’s card box Sunday afternoon, and then made another 3 pew bows, and then had to quit because I ran out of ribbon, so I began working on the centerpiece that will be on top of the lighted archway, which will go behind the cake table at the reception. All in all, it was a productive afternoon!

My Mind is Fried!

I’ve been working on my various websites all day, and my head is fried! But, I’ve been earning money while doing it, so it’s worth it. The rain actually subsided, and the sun shone today. That’s the first time this week! Hopefully we will get some spring like weather now! Well that’s it for me tonight! Off to watch hockey and have a cold one.alcohol.jpg

TGIF

Note the very original title for a Friday post! Today was a nice day at work. No kids, and no home visits. Just prep time. I got lots accomplished. We had a lot of laughs, and then went for our typical Friday “Happy Panda” (Chinese Food) lunch. After work, I went to the Dollar Store to pick up craft things for work, and then went shoe shopping. What’s not to love??

Except, I got home around 5:00, and hubby arrived shortly thereafter. OMG was that man crabby!! Acckkk! I know he hates his current assignment at work, but holy sheep shit! I think I’ll just hide upstairs today!
