At last!

It seems like it’s been weeks since we have been to an Oiler game! Ben and Jess are going out to dinner with us, and then they’re dropping us off at the game. Should be lots of fun! Ryan Smyth is finally back! Yay!

I haven’t done a darn thing yet this week. I’m incredibly lazy! Hopefully that passes very soon so that I can accomplish some things before I go back to work.

Ben starts his 1st year apprenticeship course on Jan. 2, so he will be a student for 8 weeks. Hopefully he does well!!

Rules??

As you can see this little bastard is flaunting the fact that he is totally breaking the “keep your furry little ass off the cupboards” rule! Hubby is cooking hot wings, and laid down the oven mitt, and by the time he’d turned around, here’s where Stan the Man decided would be a good place for a nap! (or the nearest route to the wings).

We’ve done pretty much NOTHING today. I did a little bit of laundry, and that’s been about it. Ben and Jess are coming over for dinner, and Sarah will get here around 9:00 from snowboarding, to pick up Miles. Then I’m locking the damn door!

Could be 2 pieces of breaking news around here within the next couple of weeks!

The Big Day

Well the Christmas partying is half done………thankfully! We had a really nice time at Mom’s. She BBQ’d a prime rib roast, cooked up some lobster, and all the side dishes. It was scrumptious! The roast was perfect! It was so tender you could just cut it with a regular knife, and the lobster just melted in your mouth. Of course this meant we ate too MUCH! Then we wandered downstairs to open gifts. Everyone loved their presents, and a good time was had by all!

By the time we finished with presents, we were tired, and left shortly, to go back to the hotel. Of course we both had another pretty much sleepless night. I finally put my head under a great big pillow, and managed to sleep a little bit. Needless to say, we’re both wiped. We’re back home now, and going to have a snooze before we go in to the in-laws with Jessica, for Christmas dinner. Ben will be meeting us there after work, in time for dinner.

Hope your Christmas is Merry & Bright!

Christmas Eve

Well, for someone who is typically very organized, and ahead of things when it comes to things like being prepared for Christmas, this year I was a MESS! I started shopping very early, and I think that lulled me into a vegetative state, because I left everything else to the last damn minute!
Yesterday I finished the laundry, and then started wrapping. By the time I changed beds, packed, showered, etc, it was 3:00 before I left!! Geeze! As I was wrapping, I realized I was short a few gifts for people. DOH! So this moring, my ass was at Wal*mart when the doors opened at 8:00 am, and I finished my shopping with about 3 other fools. It was great! The store was DEAD!! Yay! So I came back to the hotel and wrapped them up, and now I’m about ready to head over to my Mom’s.
Last night hubby and I met at the hotel, and then went out for a nice dinner. We had a good time. … UNTIL 2:00 am, when I was awakened from the SNORING!! I finally poked him and told him he was snoring like a maniac! Then he got up and got some ice water. So, this is what I listened to for the next 4 hours: ice rattling, slurp, burp, snore, snuffle, ice, gulp, fart… wash, rinse, repeat. I finally turned the TV on to drown out some of the noises! Then I heard ice, gulp, slurp, burp, mumble, mutter…. “I have to go to work in a couple of hours!” blah blah Now I remember why we sleep in separate rooms at home, and why we do not vacation!! Shoot me now!

Whoo Hooo!

I’m SO glad to be finished work until January 8th! While I’m not excited to not be paid for 2 weeks, I’ll deal with it, and the break will be NICE!
Today was a clean up Christmas day at work, and hustling to get everything up off the floor so the room can be cleaned. We had a ton more to do, and may go in during Christmas, but for today we’d had enough! I got home, and tore into cleaning my house, and just finally sat down with a beautiful, ice cold beer! heh So the house is clean except to do my bathroom, and change the bed. The laundry is half finished, so tomorrow, I’ll finish the laundry, wrap the presents, which isn’t near as frightening as it sounds, pack, load it all up, and head out of Dodge for 2 days. Ben and Jess are going to stay here to look after all the cats! Ben works tomorrow night, and then again on Christmas Day at 8:00 am, so they’re not staying out at Mom’s at all. They’ll just come out for the day.
Yesterday was a crazy busy day! I worked for the morning, and it was busy!! We had the Christmas parties, so we were decorating gingerbread houses, getting lunch ready, and packing up and sending home all the Christmas stuff! Whew! Then Sarah met me at school and we went out to the funeral. It was very nice, and it was so much fun to see all of my cousin’s kids! We got home from there around 5:15, and then got changed, and by 6:30 got picked up to go out for dinner. We had a great time, but MY GAWD that was a long day! We got home at 10:15. I can’t remember the last time I spent that much time sitting!!!
The picture here is one of two Wildcats we painted on the gym walls. There’s one on either end of the wall, with the name of the school in great big letters between the two. (we didn’t paint the name part). It took us a total of 32 hours to do them. It was a terrible PITA, because as you can see, the wall is made of cinder blocks, so you’d be trying to paint this nice straight line, when you’d drop into a “ditch”! The other pain was trying to get them to look the “same”. They’re no where near perfect, but the kids love them! They’re HUGE!

Stick -em Up!

I can’t believe how unprepared I am for Christmas, considering that I got off to such an early start! I haven’t wrapped a darn thing, and I have to buy something else for my Mom. It would be fine, except Thursday, I’m working the morning, going down for the funeral in the afternoon, and then get back and go out for dinner! Friday is work all day, and then we leave at 6:30 AM on Saturday morning to go to my Mom’s. Which really only leaves me tomorrow night, and/or Friday night.
The Oilers lost a brutal game tonight! It was crazy!!
It’s going to be a wonderful thing when the end of Friday gets here! I can’t wait for 2 weeks of vacation! Woot!
Ben and Jess were over last night for dinner, so we got that initial meeting over with again.
Later gators!

Go Give it a Try!

On the advice of Busy Mom, I gave this Carol Quiz a try. I got 80%. I thought I’d do better than that, but a couple of them were tricky! Either that, or I have been singing the wrong words for a whole lot of years!
