Whoo Hoo (I Think!)

Well by the looks of this, we may have indeed lucked out!! The first home game will be one week from Saturday, and if that’s the case, hubby should be able to leave early enough to go to the game!! That would be GREAT! He’ll be so disappointed if he has to miss it after all of this, and after waiting for 16 years!

Oooops!

On their wedding night, the young bride approached her new husband and asked for $20.00 for their first lovemaking encounter. In his highly aroused state, her husband readily agreed.

This scenario was repeated each time they made love, for more than 30 years, with him thinking that it was a cute way for her to afford new clothes and other incidentals that she needed.

Arriving home around noon one day, she was surprised to find her husband in a very drunken state. During the next few minutes, he explained that his employer was going through a process of
corporate downsizing, and he had been let go. It was unlikely that, at the age of 59, he’d be able to find another position that paid anywhere near what he’d been earning, and therefore, they were financially ruined.

Calmly, his wife handed him a bank book which showed more than thirty years of steady deposits and interest totaling nearly $1,million. Then she showed him certificates of deposits issued by the bank which were worth over $2 million, and informed him that they were one of the largest depositors in the bank.

She explained that for the more than three decades she had “charged” him for sex, these holdings had multiplied and these were the results of her savings and investments.

Faced with evidence of cash and investments worth over $3 million, her husband was so astounded he could barely speak, but finally he found his voice and blurted out, “If I’d had any idea what you were doing, I would have given you all my business!”

That’s when she shot him.

You know, sometimes, men just don’t know when to keep their mouths shut.

Work, Smirk

I had to work with the “close-talker” all day today. BLECH!! I’m told she won’t be back next year, but I won’t believe it until I see it. I sure hope not! Annoys the crap right out of me!

21 more days of school. This is the point in the year where I definitely start counting down the days until we’re finished. I don’t get sick of the kids, but I get sick of some of my co-workers!

In the Biggest Piss-Off of the year, hubby will most likely not be able to attend the Oiler’s first home game of the Stanley cup finals! It’s quite likely going to be on the same night as his grand re-opening of his store. To think we spend all this money on tickets, and follow the team so closely, and he won’t even be able to watch it on TV. Now I have to decide what I’m going to do. I could sell the pair on EBay for a HUGE profit, or I could sell the ticket to either a friend, or one of the kids. OR we could let the kids go that night. I just don’t know for sure what I want to do!! What a PITA! Guess I’ll figure it out eventually. I’ve got 12 days to make up my mind.

We’re Going To The Stanley Cup FINALS!

For the first time in 16 years, we have a chance to win the cup again! How exciting is that!!??

I’m EXTREMELY superstitious, I have 3 jerseys, but since the winning began, it’s been with me wearing my Steve Staios jersey, and hubby wearing my Chris Pronger jersey. I wear my “Oiler beads” (rosary beads I’m thinking), my #24 jersey, and my copper flip flops every game day to school, and to the games, or to watch the games. I have worn my Oiler earrings ever since playoffs began, our Oiler flag has been draped over the basement door in a “particular way”, we have to drive my Jeep to the games, hubby has to hand the tickets to the clerks, and it goes on and on. I have an Oilers “alter” at the top of the stairway, which holds my Oiler bears, the tickets, the programs, etc. Yes, I’m INSANE!! Soooooooo…….. when we lost on Thursday night, I had to “change the luck”, so I “decorated” our front lawn. The flag is no longer “draped”, it’s erected on our lawn, and the bear is dressed as a true Oiler fan. The tinsel in his lap is one of the pom poms that have been handed out at every home game. And the “Stanley Cup” is perched on his shoulder. Out of the shot, is the Canadian flag which is under the living room window, and my Radek Dvorak jersey hanging inside the window!

But you can call me obsessed, crazed, delerious, and I don’t CARE, because We’re going the the Stanley Cup finals BABY!!

Grrrrr!

Oilers didn’t show up last night. Don’t know if it was the flu that 10 of them have had, some have lost up to 10 pounds! OR if it was the fact that they’ve travelled over 8,000 km since playoffs began, on 9 different flights, or if they just sucked for no damn good reason, but I pray to the Hockey gods, that they win tomorrow night in LA, because I do NOT want to go to another game on Monday night! Pfffft

My Latest Little Convert

This little man came today wearing his brand new Oilers jersey, and when I came into the room, he was just looking at me so proud, and I shouted, “WHOOHOOO!” He looks at his dad , and says to me, “GO OILERS GO!” He was so proud that I noticed! hehehe

I submitted many of the Oiler apparel pictures I ‘ve shared with you on Flickr , and most of them are featured on the Edmonton Oilers website, under “Fan Photos”. Cool beans!

Tomorrow night, the Oil have a chance to finish off the Ducks. I sure hope they do it, as between the flu, and a pretty wicked schedule, I’m sure they’re on their last legs!! Last night’s game was friggin’ awesome though!! San Jose fans booed our national anthem, so in response, we cheered the heck out of theirs, while last night we cheered the first few bars of the USA anthem, and then we sang the rest…. 16,839 fans singing the US anthem at the top of their lungs! Then the Canadian anthem came on, and it was amazing!!! The soloist just held up his mic to let the fans sing!! Ahhhhhh playoff tickets - priceless!

The Reasons Why

EdmontonSun.com - Robin Brownlee

Here and now, it’s pretty easy to see why the Mighty Ducks are two games from being history after back-to-back 3-1 losses.

* With two assists in the first two games, goaltender and Conn Smythe MVP candidate Dwayne Roloson has out-scored everybody on Anaheim’s playoff roster.

* After trailing San Jose 2-0, the Oilers have reeled off six straight wins. That, in deference to those who insist on noting such things, is the team’s longest winning streak since 1990. That matters not. What does count is the Oilers are brimming with confidence.

* Despite facing a team ravaged by a flu bug Sunday, the Mighty Ducks were again done in by Roloson and Edmonton special teams that have provided a winning edge throughout the playoffs.

“I didn’t even know that before somebody told me,” shrugged Selanne of the losing streak. “I don’t really care about that. If you want to win, it doesn’t matter what has happened in the past.”

Captain Jason Smith played Sunday, but was so ill that when a reporter asked him to answer a couple more questions after the post-game media scrum broke up, he agreed - with one condition. “Sure, as long as I don’t (soil) myself while we’re talking.”

Can They Sweep?

The Oilers won again last night,so they come home leading the series 2-0! Whoduthunk? They play tomorrow night, and we’ll be there! It will be SO much fun! Hopefully they kick butt tomorrow night, and finish off the series Thursday night here at home! The team is fighting the flu though! We had 2 guys down with it last night, and another recovering, with 2 more just coming down with it. I just hope the germs stay far away from Roli the Goalie! That would NOT be cool!

Kitty sitting has been fun, he’s a sweetie, and is really getting used to the big cats now. He’s trying to get a little closer to them, but they’re not too trusting of his hissy self! Someone is coming to pick him up tonight I assume.

I think we have a realtively calm work week, so that’s a good thing, with these 2 hockey games this week! The weather is hot here today, and I just finished mowing the lawn. I’m getting too old for such activities! The heat is NOT my friend!! I have my own internal furnace thank you very much!
