Our spring-like weather has certainly taken a leave! It was NOT a pleasant day today! Fortunately for my lazy ass, I got all my chores finished yesterday, so I could just be lazy today. Ben and Jess came out for dinner tonight, but that was about all that went on around here today. Hubby has been watching all the hockey games on today.
Tomorrow is a PD day at school, so I have one more day off. I wish it was the day AFTER the hockey game! Woot!
Great game by the Oilers!! One more win and the series is over! Monday night is the night!! How great it would be for them to beat the top team in the league at home! Not one “expert” gave us a chance. Now I’m cheering for Ottawa to finish their series off tonight, as I’ve heard that if their series is finished, our game will be at 6:00, otherwise it’s at 8:00 pm YUCK!
I got the whole house cleaned today, so that certainly looks and feels much better! I should have gone out and done the lawn instead of the house, but of course that would make too much sense!!
Hubby is finally on his way home, and we’ll have happy hour, order pizza, celebrate the Oilers victory, and watch the Ottawa, and then Calgary (boo hiss) hockey games. Gawd we’re OLD. All we need to do is move to Arizona, play tennis and start clipping coupons.
Well we lost the other night which SUCKS, so now the series is tied at 2 each. This OLD MAN you see pictured here is public enemy #1! The diving, the dirty playing, hacking, etc. Good LORD! Every team has a player you love to HATE!!! And this old fart is IT!
Game 5 is this afternoon, and then they’re back here for game 6. The perfect outcome of course, is to win this afternoon, and then win the series here at HOME on Monday. Heh! Time will tell!
Work was a bit rough this week, but hopefully next week, things will calm down a bit! I had 2 home visits yesterday, which isn’t wonderful, but they went well.
I’m hoping to get caught up around here in this house, and if the weather holds off, we’d love to get the yard cleaned up as well, but it sounds like rain is in our future.
Three hours until game time, so I best keep on keeping on, and make the most of it.
If the Oilers can pull off another win tonight, they will be in fantastic shape for going back to Detroit! They’re definitely playing well enough to do it, as long as they play the way they have been! It will be another crazy loud night at the arena!! Sarah and her girlfriend bought our tickets, so they are going tonight. They’re just thrilled!! Jay has gone back home to the farm for the summer now, so she’s dateless for a while!
Today was an insane, annoying, frustrating, busy day at work and I’m SO GLAD it’s over! Tomorrow I have two home visits to do, which don’t please me too much, but you do what you’ve got to do.
Right now I’m anxiously awaiting hubby’s arrival home, and the start of pre-game happy hour! Heh!

Notice my lovely tattoo. HEH! I put one on each ankle, even though my ankles were so swollen I couldn’t hardly find them!
We went out for dinner before the game, and then strolled through the patio party a little while before taking our seats. there were silver tinsel pompoms on every seat. This year’s playoff theme is “Get Electric” and when all 17000 screaming fans were waving them, it looked really cool!! Whenever the Oilers scored they dropped silver streamers from the ceiling. We set a new “noise level” record again. I didn’t think that was EVER possible after the last playoff run 3 years ago.
The game went into double overtime, so it was from 8:00- 12:05!! Long game! I’m so glad I took today off! I was exhausted, had a huge headache from the noise and the beer, my arms were both aching from shaking my pompoms, and my throat is sore from cheering! Needless to say, we’re selling our tickets for tomorrow night’s game to Sarah and her girlfriend. We’re too old for so much excitement in one work week! We’ll watch on TV safely plopped in our recliners. There will be another home game on Monday. I just hope it’s not at 8:00 pm!!

This morning we took the kids out kite flying. (or attempted to) We had a certain amount of difficulty in doing so! This picture shows about the best of many attempts we had. After we’d finally get the suckers air bound, then, they’d come dive bombing right at us! We’re fairly certain they were possessed. We’re the only group we’ve heard of that were seriously considering the wearing of helmets when flying kites!
What a great game! The Oil easily could have won the first game, so I’m so glad they won today! Tuesday is going to be WICKED AWESOME! I might ask for a personal day on Wednesday if I can find a sub, as hubby has Wednesday off.
The kids were out for dinner. Ben and Jess gave me a beautiful emerald green silk robe, and Sarah and Jay gave me a couple of DVD’s and a book. I didn’t think hubby was going to get me anything, as he put the down payment on my Jeep for me, but he came home with a huge bouquet of flowers, my favorite candy, some magazines, a Timmy’s coffee, a card, and a $50 gift certificate to La Senza. What a guy! He also “guaranteed an Oilers victory” in my card. LOL He also cooked a fabulous steak dinner, and bought my favorite wine. I guess I’ll keep him another 30 years.
