2005 in Review

January: Ben turned 18. He celebrated by going to a strip joint. I painted the laundry room and re-tiled it. It was a very cold month.

February: Ben’s voice finally started to change, and he’s finally growing! I got my new laptop for Valentines!

March: Easter was celebrated and we finally met Jess who visited here for 2 weeks.

April: Sarah turned 22. I scored Keith Urban tickets for her and Jay. Both kids finished their school years. Sarah finished her 4th year of nursing. Sarah bought a brand new Ford Escape. Ben bought a 2003 Ford Explorer truck. I turned 47 years old.

May: Smudge caught a mouse in the house and brought it to me. I haven’t been the same since. Ben had 4 wisdome teeth removed. Jess was here from BC again for her cousin’s graduation. I participated in my 3rd Relay for Life. Sarah took trips to Mexico, and to New York. Ben flew to Kelowna for Jess’s Graduation.

June:We proudly attended Sarah’s University Convocation and watched her accept her BScN. I found out that I got the job in the Early Entry Preschool program that I wanted for next school year. I painted the whole classroom BY MYSELF! I had to say goodbye to Tony after working with him for 7 years.

July: I did some painting outside. After 301 days the NHL players strike ended. Sarah got hired at the Children’s hospital, and was thrilled!!

August: Jess moved here to live with her aunt. Hubby got the fantastic news that he got a new position! The Oilers signed Pronger and Peca! Sarah found out she passed her RN exam!! I started my new job.

September: We went to the first Oilers pre-season game. Yay!!

October: We celebrated Thanksgiving. Jess decided to move back home to BC *sniff*. Sarah bought a condo!

November: The Eskimos won the Grey Cup.

December: Kids are busy packing up to move out. Christmas was enjoyed.

Happy New Year one and all!

Sarah & Jay Christmas Morning

YAY!! Go me! I finally rose from the dead! Sarah and I went through the boxes of things I’d been stashing away for the day that the kids would move out and took out what she’d need. Towels, glasses, set of dishes, bowls, vases, cups, teapot, blankets, etc. She’s already bought quite a few things, got several things for Christmas and won’t need too much more. It appears that they will have no lamps. Ha! I gave each of them complete bathroom sets for Christmas too. Sarah’s is the little “duckies” which have a real soft spot in her heart (which I’ll explain one day), and I got Ben a more “manly” set. (until he discovered that it has a flower overhang on the shower curtain) LMAO… I will remove that. Now they’re out shopping for a small computer table, and Ben is looking for a “hat rack” and a laundry sack “for bringing his laundry home to Mom every Sunday when they come home for dinner” to which I said, “Pffffttt!” We got all their things piled up in the basement and hubby brought home boxes for them to pack up properly.

I also have been doing laundry all day, and got rid of all the Christmas crap. I cleaned quite a bit too, so everything is pretty well good to go except I’ll need to vacuum tomorrow.

Hubby and I are going out for dinner, and then to the Oilers game tonight, so that should be fun. We skipped the last 2 home games which were both home games against Minnisota. They are the most damn boring team on this earth to watch. Them and that damn trap! Grrrrrr (we lost both games) No!! I’m not bitter. Much.

Snoopy Cat

Here is my nosey cat. Sarah was busy packing up her room, and he was “helping”. He is the snoopiest cat ever!! If he’s not careful, he’ll end up taped up inside a box, and moved with the kids! And he should KNOW he won’t like that because they never clean the litter box!!!

Wednesday Mind Hump

BlogdriveInsanity

1. What did you do for your last birthday? If your birthday is coming up soon, what are your plans? We were invited out to some good friends for dinner, but couldn’t go because hubby had strep throat, so we did nothing.

2. What TV show do you absolutely HAVE to watch each week? Grey’s Anatomy and OILERS games

3. What was your favorite vacation? About 10 years ago we took the kids to Disneyland, and that was a lot of fun!

4. Are you doing any post-holiday sale shopping this week? No sale shopping. I might go paint shopping for Sarah’s condo if I get any ambition at all!

Whew! It’s Over

Christmas has come and gone for another year, and I can’t say I’m sorry to see it end! My MIL was in hospital for 2 days right before Christmas (last year it was my SIL), so that kind of messed with things. My kids were very pleased with their gifts, as was everyone else. I got a Brew Station coffee pot that I had on my list from my Mom, as well as some silk jammies, and a pedicure kit. I got a HEAP of scrapbooking materials from the kids, and hubby bought me 2 more Oiler prints for the family room.

I was a lazy toad today, and I’m not sure what I’ll be doing tomorrow. Jess arrived safe and sound, and Ben seems very pleased to see her. Sarah and Jay left for the farm yesterday morning right after brunch. She called last night. She had gotten a bunch of pink accessories for her kitchen, so she was excited! Just a week now until they move! Seems we’ve been talking about it FOREVER!!

A Brown Christmas It Is!

weather.gif

Look at this weather!!! I went out to run errands yesterday just wearing a shirt and slacks! No coat required! Of course, I’m always too warm, but this is unreal! I’ve nearly finished the laundry, I swiffered all the hardwood, emptied garbages, cleaned the bathrooms, and I’m soon going to hop in the shower and then pack. We’re not hurrying too much, and will just kind of take our time going out.

Heading Out

I’m going to be moving my ass shortly. I have a load of laundry to do. One more present to wrap, I need to pack, load up all the presents, shower, and then we’ll head down to Mom’s. Ben is going when he gets up, as he’s taking his own vehicle because he has to go pick up Jess at the airport tomorrow at noon. Jay and Sarah will arrive some time, from his folks, and then they go back there tomorrow.

Hubby and I are staying in a hotel tonight. Fuck the sleepover notion! My brother, my kids and Jay will be staying over and there’s still not enough beds, so I decided I was too old for such coziness.

Tomorrow we’ll have brunch with Mom (we’ve always opened all our gifts Christmas Eve….following a steak and lobster dinner), and then head back home for a while before going into the in-laws.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!
