Having a Cold One

Sarah and I sat up on the balcony in the shady part, when she got home from work and enjoyed a cold drink and a good chat. She’s so excited about starting her new job. She got her schedule for her orientation program. It lasts for about 3 weeks, and then she’ll be on her own come September.

Just to depress myself, I just realized that I go back to work one month from today. Wahhhhhhh

Happy Phone!

I got a few things done today. I cleaned the inside of Ben’s truck for him, because it’s been my experience that men can’t do it RIGHT. He’s away in Kelowna with Jess and 2 buddies this weekend. She’s moving back here. They’re bringing a lot of her stuff back with them.

I weeded the flower bed and putzed around in the yard a bit, but it’s so muggy that it is GROSS!

I’m also spending time obsessing over the NHL trade transactions and signings in the hopes that the Oi*lers can pick up some new good players, and that they don’t LOSE any that we’ve got!

Well Sarah just got home from work, so I’m going to go sit and have a big cold “slush” with her that hubby just brought us. She works again tomorrow, and then is going down to Jay’s again, so she won’t be home again until Tuesday.

It Just Occured to Me

This will be the first year in 18 years that I haven’t had to worry about getting anyone ready for “Back to School”. (other than myself that is)

Now that seems weird!

So Exciting!

Sarah got the job!!! They called here at 4:00, and she still wasn’t home from work, so I told hubby to give them her cell phone number (he proceeded to give them mine), so I’m waving at him in the background to give them the RIGHT number. She came in the door about 10 minutes later, just as excited as you can be! She starts with a 3 day orientation likely on the 8th of August. She’s got two weeks of work already booked at her other job in August, so she’s hoping to arrange something, so as not to leave them high and dry. She will keep the casual job she has now, because she’ll be working 12 hours shifts at her full time job, so she’ll get 3 days off, and will pick up the odd shift there as well. She’s hoping to pay off her student loan by the new year.

FINALLY!

We finally got the lawnmower back yesterday. They had it for 3 weeks!! Accck! Hubby had to mow the lawn 3 times to get it all cleaned up! But, it’s back to normal now thank heavens.

If all goes according to his plan, Ben is going to be moving out in a couple of weeks. He’s thinking of moving in with his long time best bud Kevin, and Kev’s sister. They’ve lived in the family home alone ever since their parents got transferred to Calgary a year ago. I think it will be a good way for him to see if he is ready to live out on his own or not. He’s also super excited because the company he works for has gotten a contract to build a house from the ground up. They usually just do renovations, so he thinks that will be great experience.

Sarah had her interview yesterday, and she should hear Friday, or Monday if she got the job or not. BUT, they asked her if she’d be interested in working there casual if she didn’t get the job. She said definitely!! She’d still keep her job out in Camrose, and be able to pretty much pick and choose her hours between the two places. She’d be able to find out if she likes working with sick children, and she’d get a foot in the door, so that’s all very promising.

The Two Lovebirds

Sarah went down to Jay’s to attend one of his friend’s weddings. They had lots of fun. It was Sarah’s first “small town” wedding. Then yesterday they took the new boat for a spin so Jay could go wakeboarding. A great weekend was had by all!

    Brrrrrrrrr

It was 40 degrees when I woke up this morning! It’s finally warmed up to a balmy 45 degrees now. It sure seems like everyone is getting very strange weather this summer. We have had a very cool, wet summer, and other people are completely melting!

Does anyone have a goat we can borrow for a week or two?? Our lawn mower has been in the shop for 2 weeks now, and the grass is getting rather LONG!! As much grass as the cats go out and eat and yak up, they just aren’t keeping up!

    Guard Cats

I think the cats were guarding my laptop for me while I was buzzing around. Otherwise, they were waiting for me to come back and get comfortable with them.

Hubby actually slept until 9:30 this morning. He hasn’t slept past 7:00 am, in over a year. He was so tired last night that he fell asleep in “his chair”, snoring away during the football game, and only woke up when he was getting rained on with rain flying in the patio door on him. LMAO Nothing like being overworked and overstressed!

    Not me!! Heh!
