I have visited the States in red. Hmmmm …. I need to get out more, although a map of Canadian provinces that I’ve visited would be limited to the Prairies, so I just don’t go EAST!

Is it my Blonde Showing?

We’re having a really bad blizzard here at the moment. Hubby had phoned earlier and said the roads were horrible. Ben got a call to go into work, and I told them I wouldn’t let him drive with the roads like this, and there was no way I was going out in this either for $30!

I was confused as to what hours Sarah’s classes were today, so I phoned her cell phone, thinking she’d likely be on the bus, heading for her car. Her phone rang, and then I hear this little whisper……….”Hello?” so I whisper back, “Are you still in class??” to which she replies…….”Yes, until 5:00!”…”Okay” I whisper, “Drive carefully, the roads are bad” and hung up.

Can someone explain to me why the fuck I was whispering???????

Friday Five

You have just won one million dollars:

1. Who do you call first? I’d call home…….whoever was home!

2. What is the first thing you buy for yourself? A damn 4 wheel drive!!! (then I’d pay off all our debts)

3. What is the first thing you buy for someone else? I’d buy our teens a small house in the City to live in for the next few years. It’s their plan to move out together in another year’s time anyways, so I’d buy a second house and let them live there.

4. Do you give any away? If yes, to whom? I’d definitely donate quite a bit of it to different charities throughout the year! I’d buy the kids new vehicles too, and then I’d know they’d be set!

5. Do you invest any? If so, how? NO!! I’m not a gambler by any means! I’d buy the second home, and rent it out after my kids moved out, but that’s the only investment I’d make!

Words to Live By

Today at noon, the kids in our classroom were sitting on the floor, playing games, building with Lego, etc. Brandon wondered by Alyssa, and said, “Alyssa, your crack is showing!!” he pondered that for a minute or two, and then said, with great seriousness, “CRACK KILLS!”

Last day of the WEEK!

I’m so glad tomorrow is a day off for us!! I’ve about had enough of this week, and it can just piss off! It’s made me unreasonably cranky as if you can’t tell!

The temperatures have been brutal! Nearing -50 degrees with wind chills many days. We’ve been locked up like dogs in a kennel at school for 3 days now. The buses finally didn’t run yesterday, so there were more of us than them. Nicholas has not been to school all week because of the cold, so I’m BORED, and my days are draggin’ ass! My joints are so bad from this cold, that I feel like I’m about 104, so working out has been a less than pleasant experience, and at 5:00 am, I’m all about pleasant!

On a good note, my car has been “mostly” fixed!! While I dread any more car expenses (we’ve had enough in the last 3 months to choke a horse!), now I will have HEAT, so I shouldn’t have to drive with a blanket across my lap! If it didn’t get fixed soon, I was going to heat a potatoe and put it at my feet!! hehehe (can you tell we’re doing pioneers at school?) The air bags have been replaced, and fixed properly (formerly my steering wheel was held together by hot glue…….I caulked the bugger with the stuff), and next week I’ll have 2 new tires, so perhaps I won’t be sliding all over the place! Grrrrrrrr I HATE this weather!

Okay……..I’ve whined enough (for now). I’m off to finish my reads and coffee, and head out shortly.

Happy Birthday Ben!

My “baby” turns 17 years old today. How did I get so OLD?? I’m not sure, but I know I did a fine job on this kid! (even if he can’t drive on winter roads) He’s smart (but doesn’t want the schools to find out), he’s FUNNY (as you can tell by the pose in this picture), he’s athletic, he’s kind, he’s affectionate, he works hard (has 2 jobs) and he lurves his big sister a lot, and because of that, has a GREAT respect for women.

Happy Birthday Benjamin Robert! (born Jan. 28/1987 @ 2:22 AM)

Sunday……..Snowday

I have to fill out some paper work for Ben, as he starts his second job today, then I’m going to workout and shower. Hubby had to work this morning, but he is on his way home with movies, so we’ve declared today…….Lay around Like Lumps Day.

He’s stopping to pick up movies, and I’ve got piping hot homemade tortellini soup in the crock pot, and I’m baking a salmon for supper. Otherwise it’s a stay inside and keep warm day.
