Domain Shuffle

I’ve just been busy moving transferring all of my domains to one host. What a pain in the butt!

The Relay for Life went very well. The weather even cooperated for a change. I got home around 5:30 am. I slept until late afternoon, and then I got busy outside and finished planting my flowers. I’m glad to have that finished. I have lots to do tomorrow since I “lost” most of today sleeping.

I have 3 very busy weeks left at school, and then the whole SUMMER OFF!!

Whew!

Well thanks goodness that event is all over and done with! The retirement picnic went really well! My slide show was a hit, I’m happy to say! The weather held off and even got sunny after getting spit on a bit the first little while. There was a good turnout, and Rod was very pleased I think. I videotaped the whole presentation part, which was 45 minutes long. My BACK is killing me today from standing still in one position for so long!! (only time my back hurts, and that’s after a long time standing) We have a Retirement Tea (mostly for teachers from other schools to attend) near the end of June, and I plan to tape that as well and then edit a tape for him.

Maybe yes, maybe no

I’m in the process of tranferring all my domains from 4 different hosts, all to a multi-hosted domain, so things are likely to be futzed right up around here for a while!! Not only that, but our almost flawless cable internet connection has been horrible for the past several days. Very intermittent, and slow when you can even get on!

The timing is bad, as I’ve got the retirement picnic tonight, I’m trying to get my bedding plants in the ground before they fry, Ben has a soccer game tomorrow night, and I’m doing the Relay for Life all night Friday, so I’m expecting to be sleeping on Saturday! I’m starting to feel a wee-bit stressed here! LOL

Playing The Marriage Game By the Boys’ Rules

We always hear “the rules”from the female side. Here are the rules from the male side somewhere in cyberspace. These are all numbered “1″ on purpose.

1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You’re a big girl. If it’s up, put it down. We need it up; you need it down. You don’t hear us bitching about you leaving it down.

1. Birthdays, Valentines, and anniversaries are not contests to see if we can find the perfect present yet again!

1. Sometimes we are not thinking about you. Live with it.

1. Don’t cut your hair. Ever! Long hair is always more attractive than short hair. One of the big reasons guys fear getting married is that married women always cut their hair, and by then you’re stuck with her.

1. Shopping is not a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want. Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!

1. We don’t remember dates, or mark birthdays and anniversaries on a calendar. Remind us frequently beforehand.

1. Most guys own three pairs of shoes - tops. What makes you think we’d be any good at choosing which pair, out of 30, would look good with your dress?

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine.
Really.

1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That’s what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.

1. Check your oil. Please.

1. Anything we said six months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments be-come null and void after seven days.

1. If you won’t dress like Victoria’s Secret girls, don’t expect us to act like soap opera guys.

1. If you think you’re fat, you probably are. Don’t ask us. We refuse to answer.

1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.

1. Let us ogle. We are going to look anyway, it’s genetic.

1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.

1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.

1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions, and neither do we.

1. The relationship is never go-ing to be like it was the first two months we were going out. Get over it. And quit whining to your girlfriends.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colours, like Windows default settings.
Peach for example, is a fruit, not a colour. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.

1. We are not mind readers and never will be. Our lack of mind-reading ability is not proof of how little we care about you.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say “nothing,” we will act as if nothing’s wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don’t want an answer to, expect an answer you don’t want to hear.

1. Don’t ask us what we’re thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as navel lint, the shotgun forma-tion, or monster trucks.

1. I have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. It is neither in your best interest or ours to take the quiz together. No, it doesn’t matter which quiz.

1. Beer is as exciting for us as handbags are for you.

1. Thank you for reading this; Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight, but did you know we really don’t mind that, it’s like camping.

1. I’m in shape. Round is a shape…..

Yahoo!

Well for whatever reason, my presentation works perfectly. Now all I have to do is round up some exterior speakers for it, so that the sound is nicer. I’m so relieved to nearly have that monkey off my back!

Sunday, Sarah and I went and bought some bedding plants, and yesterday after work, I made a trip out to my gf’s greenhouse and bought the rest of my plants. Now it’s to get them planted! Could be tricky considering Ben has a soccer game tonight, the retirement picnic is tomorrow night, and I”m in the Relay for Life (all night walking event for cancer) all night Friday, and Saturday I’ll be in a coma! Hmmmm

This or That

This-or-That Tuesday: as mentioned on Weblogs Central at MSNBC.com!

1. Do you prefer silence or do you like background sound (music, TV, etc)? Totally depends on my mood and what I’m doing. Typically I like background music. When I first get home from work I like SILENCE!

2. Bathe/shower in morning or evening? Shower in the morning.

3. Sleeping in complete darkness, or with a nightlight on? Complete darkness

4. Lay out clothes the night before, or just grab what’s closest in the morning? I just decide in the morning what I’ll wear, unless something special is going on at work, in which case I’ll figure it out the night before.

5. Hang up/fold clothes neatly, or just toss them wherever? Always hang them up or fold them. Everyone else in my family tosses them on the floor. Grrrrrrr

6. Work out at a gym, or at home on your own (or do you not bother with exercise)? I work out at home 5-6 days/week, and have done so for the past 2 years.

7. Talk on the phone, or via IM/e-mail? Email, except to Candy and Monty whom I talk to on IM

8. Are you usually on time, or late? I am usually on time. I used to obsessively EARLY, but now I just kind of cruise in just under the wire.

9. Spendthrift or frugal? Spender all the way.

10. Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: You work with someone who is not in the habit of bathing regularly. The smell seems to be getting worse and worse! Would you: 1. try to do something about it, or 2. try to grin and bear it? If you said 1, what would you do? I do. We’ve got a couple of kids in our class that have very poor hygiene. We go to the BOSS and complain, cause she gets paid the big bucks! LOL

I’m not a fan of Mondays!

Well today it is rainy and windy. It is supposed to be nice the rest of the week though.

I’m meeting with the tech at school this morning to test the presentation on the projector. I already know it’s not going to work worth spit, as I have the music embedded, and when I play the slide show on the school computers, the music skips or stutters every time an animation occurs. I’m assuming that the processor speed isn’t peppy enough. I don’t know what he’s going to do about that! I could just have the music separate on a CD, but this thing is supposed to loop and keep re-playing throughout the evening.

WTF……I did the thing, he can figure it out now. Pfffft

Noise in the Neighborhood

We’ve had a variety of annoying, sleep-interrupting noises around here this weekend. Finally we are having some nice hot weather, so one has to sleep with the windows wide open, and it’s still fairly uncomfortably hot in the house (no AC in Canada…. only need it 3 times a year!).

Friday nite the teens next door had a big fire and party outside, with very LOUD music, so windows had to be shut. Yesteray I mowed over one of the beer bottles under my front spruce tree… SMASH!

Sunday morning, (today) the neighbors in back of us were outside with their 2 noisey kids by 7:00 AM! The little one is just about 18 months old I think, and I swear to god that is the most unhappy child on earth! Always crying, and throwing screaming temper tantrums. When my kids were tiny and did that, there was only one place for them…..IN BED! So that was an unpleasant noise to wake to.

Most other mornings, the older lady next door is out on her deck at the ass crack of dawn yakking on the phone at the top of her lungs to her hearing impaired even older mother! Grrrrr

Now I’m NOT a sleep in kind of girl at all. I can’t remember the last time I slept past 8:00 AM. BUT I’d still like the time that I wake up to be my choice, and it would be nice if it was rather peaceful when I did!

I’ve also noticed that I have much more patience now for the loud, party noise at night than I do for the baby screaming noise first thing in the morning. I think my tolerances change as my kids do. I just hope the people with the noisey kids, don’t phone the police on the kids next door (or mine) if they have friends over some times, since I don’t think we’d get very far bitching to the cops about their baby that screams all day.

It’s Hot!

Yesterday and today have been beautiful HOT days! Wow! Hard to believe it actually didn’t snow this weekend! (first one in a month)

I got up and going very early this morning. I went in and bought groceries, came home, mowed the lawn and hauled out some more lawn furniture. I came in, changed and worked out for an hour, ate some lunch, had a well earned shower, and then a wee snooze! Now I’m just getting up the energy to start making supper.
