Clean up day

Well our little town made the 6:00 o’clock Edmonton news tonight. Seems many basements have flooded again. We had a major problem with this about 5 years ago. The town claimed to have rectified the problem, apparently they were wrong! We don’t have a flooding problem, as our town is on a big hill (the name of the town means Good Hill in French…. WTF??) and we live on the highest point of the hill… our water runs down to the poor devils at the bottom of the hill. I saw several Flood and Fire Restoration trucks racing by the house this afternoon so I pretty much guessed what was going on around town again. One of Ben’s buddies phoned and asked for a bed, as his is a tad soggy.

I had a totally productive day today (odd for me with this type of weather!) Ben and I got busy cleaning this morning before he had to go to hockey practice. Then once he left, I turned up the stereo and listened to the heavenly sounds of Charlotte Church. Her one album is called “Voice Of an Angel” and it’s so true! She has an amazing voice, and to know that it is coming from a 13 year old child is just mind boggling to me! Anyway she just made my heart sing as I cleaned like a possessed woman! This place shines man!!!

Earlier in the week I got started in my annual summer project. Cleaning out the “crawl space”. It’s my most dreaded task of the summer. Worse than my annual trip to the OB/GYN and the slammogram! Our crawl space is actully quite “swanky” as far as they go. It’s got a nice, painted cement floor, and if I stand between the beams I can stand upright, so it makes a great storage place. What I need is a nice, SHORT friend to come and help me! I have to be “STOOPID” the whole time I’m in there, and it takes my back 15 minutes to straighten out once I emerge from there! I hauled out all the clothes stored in there that looked as though they belong in some old wax museum. The kids packed them all out to the car, and then drove them over to the Thrift shop. We also dragged out all kinds of things and started making a pile of broken (some day we’re going to fix it stuff… NOT) to go to the dump. We think that will be hubby’s job on his holidays so as he doesn’t feel too left out. Another pile of stuff is going to be for a garage sale I’m planning on throwing together before September. Then we have our never ending pile of old sports equipment. I have enough old soccer cleats, to field a soccer team for a small third world country. Every size known to man! I could also put skates and hockey equipment on half of Bosnia. I have a few more boxes to go through of old kids’ clothes, and then it’s on to the toys and stuffed animals (God give me strength)! We sold most of the good toys at our last garage sale before we moved, and for that all I can say is Thank God!

I’m listening to Charlotte Church again and chatting with Monty, and Sarah is using the old computer on the network. I just ICQ’d her and asked if she was enjoying my music. The message I got back was “Good God Noooooooooooooooo!”. Then she had the nerve to say, “You’re getting so much like Grandma it is scarey!” Hmmmmph! And just the other day I was listening to Laura’s rehab sound file and Sarah thought I was just the coolest thing! (guess I gotta follow the young mom’s example more often!) Trouble is … I’m old enough to be most of these young mom’s Mom! WAAAAAAAAAAAA I’m so depressed!

Laura Says:

Ha! She’ll be disappointed to hear my current song is an old Steely Dan tune!
