Tuesday Morning….

Well my computer died last night for good. I believe I got a virus. I thought I had it cleaned out, reloaded Windows, and then it wouldn’t accept my network card, so i couldn’t connect to the internet. So… I called the Whiz Kid that originally set it up, and asked for his advice. He suggested reformatting. So I did that, lost every single thing I had (grrrrrrrr), and I still have exactly the same error. He is working in a computer store now, so is doing next to no service calls on the side anymore, and said he could possibly fix it in two weeks or so. Now normally that wouldn’t bother me, as I’ll just take it in the shop. What bothers me, is that I’ve had quite a bit of trouble with the network since he set it up, I haven’t a clue how to fix it , and he had quite a lot of trouble fixing it the last time he was over. I don’t want something that only one person on earth can fix, have to keep paying him to RE-fix it, as we don’t ever mess with the settings, Wingate just keeps crashing, and now he’s unavailable on top of it. Hopefully this new shop can work around it somehow. I don’t like being without my computer! I may just end up having to buy a new tower anyways, as my hard drive has been sounding awfully grindy lately. I’m at the very least going to get 128mb of RAM installed. Oh well… better get back to work now!

Argh Bev! I think I would simply lose it if I had to go very long without my computer. You must have two systems though in order to access your online journal? I’m shopping again this year for a whopping mean (bare) machine and want to be sure I find a company that has tech support available 24/7 or comes out to the house. The fellow who works on pc now (rarely need to call him) is pretty undependable and charges $35.00/hr. whether he gets it fixed or not. I used to work with him, he’s a corporate IT guy who does this on the side. Whatz your guru charge?
